2021 FESTIVAL ART COMPETITION!
Epiphany Lutheran Church, Cedmont Community Organization, and City Neighbor’s Charter School are hosting an art competition for students of all ages!
Theme: What does Love Look Like to You?
Subthemes: Select one, two, or all three to create your picture!
- Our earth home
- Your community or neighborhood
- Your family (whoever that may be)
Who can participate? Anyone in any of these groups! Students may be from any location, but must have some connection to the neighborhood. (Yes, your grandchild out of state can participate.)
- Preschool to grade 5
- Students in grades 6 – 8
- Students in grades 9 – 12 or ages 15 – 18
- Adults 18 or older (18 year olds can decide in which category to apply.)
Medium: This is a drawing/painting competition. Participants may use any of the following mediums for their pictures. If you wish to use another product, please request permission ahead of time.
- Chalk pastels
- Charcoal
- Color pencils
- Crayons
- Graphite
- Ink
- Markers
- Oil pastels
- Pens
- Watercolor paint
What? Paper or paper product only that can be hung or taped on a wall. Size of entries can vary from smallest (about 5 x 8 inches) to a larger size (about 11 x 14 inches). If the participant wants to submit a larger artwork, he/she/they should get permission from the organizer. (See below for contact information.) Once submitted, the artwork will be retained by Epiphany Lutheran Church for display and appreciation! (Gallery walk anyone?)
Judging: One judge will represent Epiphany Lutheran Church, the Cedmont Community Association, the City Neighbor’s Charter School and an ex officio (in other words, an extra person). The criteria include the following:
- How well the theme is represented in the art
- The use of color and light to convey the message
- How the art work impacts the judge (thoughts, emotions, spirit)
Awards: All entries will receive a ribbon and a small token of appreciation for the time and care they put into their submission. In addition, local media will be invited to the awards event.
- First place – $75 Visa Card and certificate of first place.
- Second place – $25 Visa Card and certificate of second place.
- Third place – $10 Visa Card and certificate of third place.
Timetable:
- Competition opens at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, August 23rd, 2021.
- All entries must be received by Epiphany Lutheran Church on September 22nd at noon to be considered for the competition.
- Award ceremony will be Saturday, September 25th at 4:30 p.m. at Epiphany Lutheran Church (4301 Raspe Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21206)
